Because I am so entrenched in the first draft of my novel The Opposite Shore, I don’t want to break rhythm just yet to work on posting short stories. So, I’ll be breaking out the Haikubes from time to time to both challenge my poetry skills and the ability to be ahem…succinct. The Haikube process:
1) Roll all of the cubes.
2) The red cubes form the prompt from which I compose a haiku using the words that come up in the rest of the cubes.
3) I will not self-censor on a prompt that makes me uncomfortable. Instead, I will compose through that discomfort.
This week’s prompt: A Tirade About My Family (Oy).
