The First Frost

And I will love you,

Said the flower to the bee,

When the first frost transforms breath

Into crystals that drift to the ground.

When our heartbeats cease –

Bodies numb, falling –

As consciousness unites with the Infinite,

Even then,

I will know you.

And I will love you.

  1. Yeah, I had a very visceral response to seeing the bees clinging to life and it included the first (and last) line getting stuck in my head.

What are your thoughts?
